Qian Suan Bao: A Colorful and Contemporary Packaging Design

Bringing the Flavors of Guizhou to Life

Guizhou is renowned for its rich colors, and Qian Suan Bao embraces this characteristic by using a palette of red, yellow, blue, and green. Each color represents a specific emotion and object, reflecting the cultural inheritance and quality pursuit of people in the era of consumption upgrade. The abstract patterns of chicken, duck, and fish further enhance the cultural significance of the design, promoting the unique culture of Guizhou.

The heat-shrinkable film labeling technology is employed to showcase the design on the plastic bottles. The content on the film is presented using woodblock printing and hot stamping techniques, resulting in a visually striking and contemporary packaging design.

The Qian Suan Bao packaging comes in a 300ml bottle, with a height of 8cm and a diameter of 5cm. Its compact size makes it convenient for consumers to use and store.

By incorporating colorful illustrations and graphic design, Qian Suan Bao effectively communicates the concept of a "fresh" product. The vibrant visuals not only attract consumers but also convey the message of product innovation and inclusivity. This design aims to appeal to a wide range of consumers, including the younger generation who are passionate about food and culinary experiences.

The Qian Suan Bao project began in September 2018 and was completed in October 2018. The design was conceptualized in Shenzhen, while the proofing and production took place in Guizhou, ensuring the authenticity and cultural relevance of the final product.

Overcoming the challenges of heat-shrinkable film printing, the design team successfully achieved the desired rich color effect. While display graphic design is a superior technology, compromises had to be made for mass production. Nevertheless, the final result is a visually stunning packaging design that captures the essence of Guizhou's sour soup.

Qian Suan Bao has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category in 2019. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving the quality of life. Qian Suan Bao's innovative approach to packaging design truly makes it a standout in the industry.
